A Family Tradition
For nearly Eighty years Barbecue Inn has served the Greater Heights/Garden Oaks area of Houston, Texas. Four generations of families have come through the doors and returned often to experience the finest in Southern comfort food, personalized service, and old-fashioned hospitality; making this family-owned restaurant a landmark in the Houston area.
Our History
The Barbecue Inn was founded in 1946 by Louis and Nell Skrehot. After finding the perfect location on Crosstimbers, Louis began converting the little house, building a new storefront façade, and the original barbecue pit. Starting with a simple menu of Barbecue, Louis added other items over time. Their sons Louis, Jr., and Wayne, “The Brothers,” as they became known, began busing tables and learning the family business at an early age; knowledge that would later prove very useful.
